Approx. Capacity - 2L
COLOUR - BLUE (Graded Shades)
CAST IRON
Sturdily boxed, complete with full use/care instruction booklet.
An old favourite of mine, the shallow wide base of this particular casserole allows the maximum contact between food and heat.
This resultant even heat retention enables cooking efficiency at low or medium temperatures, helping to conserve energy and keep fuel bills lower....also very important in the current climate.
Suitable for any hob-top or pop it in the oven, even under the grill to brown off!
A HEAVYWEIGHT, this dish has well-designed lifting handles, but don't forget your oven gloves.
Relatively easy to wash up by hand although it can require a bit of soaking and a rub with a plastic brush....for those more stubborn cooked-on food remains.
Dishwasher safe.
My current favourite recipe in this 'pot', is 'Made-Up Tuscan Sausage Stew', from the super book:-
Fay's Family Food, by Fay Ripley
....a true comfort recipe for warming up at Hallowe'en or Bonfire Night, just around the corner, at the time of writing!
BUT........if you are looking for further inspiration, Sue Cutts, one of Le Creuset's consultants, has a chapter dedicated to the SHALLOW CASSEROLES in her book:-
The Cast Iron Way to Cook
and my current favourite is:-
'Poached Fruits in Orange Syrup'
from page 35, serving 6, which makes full use of this super dish in its 'cook-and-serve' role, and I am always proud to take it direct to the table!
Available in a variety of other colours, and in a larger 3.2L size, e.g.:-

| It's a wonderful item to have in your kitchen. I don't know what I would do without it now. I use it for curries, paellas, risotto and numerous casserole dishes. It's great for the family and great for entertaining. |

I love this peice of kitchen equipment. I have used it almost daily since I purchased it and it is a joy to use. It also looks good on the cooker top, in the oven and on the table. Lots of positive feedback from others. My last Le Cruset casserole lasted over 25 years before I decided to replace it with this one. I am confident this will last many more years. Well worth the money. |
Thought this was a JL exclusive colour....

so very surprised to see it on Amazon, as I was told by a fairly senior employee of a well known company that this colour was exclusive to John Lewis shops and Waitrose, which is why you see it on Nigella Lawson's latest TV prog.!
Also, it is £5 over normal Amazon list price for this item in a different colour. |
